December Walk; Fertile County

December Walk; Fertile County
 (By Ms. Forsyth, 2013)
Golden embers of the suns hazy rays,
Let me soak you up before the winter solstice whisks you away.
Days like this my summer soul craves,
For a time or two of solitude
Where the warmth comes in waves.
Down by the meandering river,
Where the cottonwoods grow in bounty,
I enjoy my winter stroll in this mighty, fertile county.
In the shadows of the field,
The frost does seek it's shelter,
Fearful for the rays of sun, to melt away and swelter.
May the crystal lattice art go untouched, for many days to come,
And may Jack Frost spruce it up with his cool, gentle tongue.
The tall and abundant crops have since many months been grown,
Now the barren land hides away its secrets, all has long since been mown.
The ground frozen and crisp beneath my feet,
I long since wish for spring,
For the smell of rebirth is oh so sweet.
For now I must appreciate all our creator has provided,
for the beauty of our short days on earth, that since birth, have been divided.
